We the undersigned petition the council to People that have signed up to the garden waste collection service are suffering and not getting the full value for their money, it is because bin contract 'Veolia’s' crew are on strike. This suddenly lead to the garden waste collection service to be suspended for sometime. Sheffield Council plus Veolia have agreed to let the rest of the 2024 garden waste service run on a monthly rota, but only on a weekend.
I find this news so hard to take in because people have paid so much money for a service they aren’t getting and any collections not completed by the end of the year may have to be refunded. The Council, plus Veolia need to understand just how much money they are losing and plus the extra customers they could get if only they did one thing, change the garden waste service to a Monthly service. I say this because some people cannot afford the price of the garden waste service as it is on a fortnightly basis.
Those households that still want a fortnightly collection should
have this choice by paying extra for the fortnightly option.
Changing the service to a monthly basis, could also bring down the
prices, and could also pass word round to more people to join the
garden waste service. Not only that, it could also help to produce
more compost to grow, for example, trees, to help bring down
pollution levels in the city, something so many people have to pay
the price for.
Changing the service to a monthly basis it could allow people,
to buy more compost to grow plants for the garden. You can only
achieve this goal if there is more compost to sell. To solve the
problem with global warming plus climate change, doing it this way
could also persuade people to stop putting their garden waste in
the black bin and sending it to landfill.
